ctrl arrow problem

I see this was already discussed in the past, but the problem seems to persist. While editing a note, pressing Ctrl + right or left arrow will take me to the next or previous note. I regularly do this by mistake, being used to Word etc., and when I get back to the note I actually lose anything I had been typing up to this point without "saving" (for ex. by clicking on another note". I have ended up typing my notes in Word and then importing them to Biblioscape (which I am still evaluating).

Expand the folder will hide the reference window

Suppose we want to assign some references to a reference collection or move to a reference folder. Unfortunately, it is in a folder which is not expanded. Then we need to expand the folder by double clicking on the folder. The problem is that the right pane now is replaced by the description of the folder. Then we need to do the some previous operations again to get the references.

A category with child child categories

Paul, if we click on a parent category with many child categories, the V9 will retrieve all the references associated with this category and also its child categories.

It is better to only retrieve the references associated with one category if we only click on this category. Otherwise the parent category is not useful because of the so many listed references. Most of them maybe come from its child categories.

Sort by priority: default value and none

Paul,
I just encounter a problem about sorting by priority.

First we set priority values, such as "1" and "2", to some references.
The red number 1 and 2 will be shown in the priority column. The other references are blank in the priority column with default value.
Here default value is the value associated with references after they are imported into bibiloscape.

Then we set some other references with "none" priority. The column is still blank.

Finally, we click the priority column to sort the references by priority.

Pop-up reference window

Paul,
If we double click on the reference folder or import reference from google scholar, a new reference window will pop-up. This window lists all the references of the selected folder.
1) Is it possible not to pop-up this window? I am not sure about the advantage of this window. But to display the references in the main window is convenient for users. We can access all the tools in the main window.

Thanks.

categorize and un-categorize

Paul,
In V9, it is easy to assign a category to a reference by dropping the reference on the category.
However, it is difficult to delete the association between a reference and a category. The "Tags" window will display all the categories that the reference has.
In some cases, I can remove the association in this window by deleting the category name. However, in some other cases, the category name will come back after I click another reference and click the reference again.

Customize the fields used in displaying references

In middle zone, we can display the references with many fields.
V9 has a way to customize these fields among some candidate fields such as "ID", "Folder", "Icon (reference type)", "Author", "Title" and so on.

However, it seems that the number of candidate fields is fixed. Can we add some other fields such as "short title"?
I usually write some short comments for some references in the field of "short title".
I'd like to display this field which will be of great help to locate the reference I want.

Thanks
Zou

Adding pdf for the references

I find that it is not convenient to add pdf for the references in V9. Each time, users need to go to the "attachment" in the edit mode. Then we can click on the "..." to open the browser window.

V9 has a column "Icon(Attachment URL)" which can clearly indicate the existence of the attachment files. It will show a pdf icon for a pdf file. We can open pdf by directly click on the icon.

If the reference has no attachment, this column is left blank. Now if we click on the blank position, V9 open the folder where V9 is installed.

Links

Links relationships will not work as expected.

Select a reference and link it to another selecting the 'related' relationship.
Using that same reference link to another reference selecting the 'includes' relationship.
Both references linked to show ‘Related’ as the relationship although clearly the second should show ‘Included In’.

References Module

Shows version 9.0.3.0. (From a full download on 8 November 2011)

1. Year field bug.

Create a new reference, enter an existing authors name and title.
Selecting the year field enter the year and press the return key on the keyboard. This results in additional data being added to the year field and an error being generated.
“…… is not a valid integer value for field ‘Year_pub’”

Duplicating that method of input in all of the other fields on that reference display row results in the same additional data being added.
