lost entries with migration

Hi, I'm not sure what happened. I did a backup of my database because I wanted to upgrade my OS. After upgrading (I'm using SuSE 10.3 not and Biblioscape 5.4 runs under wine) I had everything still in my /home folder and could start Biblioscape without new configuration etc. But after a while I noticed that I had only 420 datasets instead of about 3000 as before. I'm not sure if I deleted something by chance or whatever. I found an elder backup an a CD and there were also only a little bit more than 300 (I added something after the CD backup).

accessing a remote database through a Windows alias

Hi all,

we currently have our database on a server that can change in time through the use of a windows alias (I am not sure it is the right term). So potentially, we might have fluctuating TCP/IP addresses for it. It there a way to ge around this problem or should we create as many databases as we have potential servers, each with its own TCP/IP address?

Sincerely,

Frédéric Gosselin

Upgrading from 5.4 to 7

I have been using Biblioscape version 5.4 for some years and I am quite happy with it, I import lots of references from pubmed, so now that I need a new filter I find that I cannot import the updated one as it doesn't work with my version of biblioscape. I guess the best option would be to upgrade to the latest version, so my question is which are the things which I am supposed to do to upgrade succesfully (and safely for my database!).

duplicated references

I just want to know how can I delete the duplicated references.

thanks

Download output styles included with biblioscape?

I know there is a section in Downloads for new output styles. However, it would actually be useful to have all Biblioscape styles here, not just new or changed ones. When I installed the software I deleted most of the output styles so I didn't have to work my way through a very long list. I am intending to submit to a journal that I didn't expect to need and no longer have the output style available. Please advise.

pathnames for attachements

I need some information concerning de way biblioscape identified the attached files. does it use a literal pathname or a relative pathname to find the attachments. I ask this question because I have some problems (attachments are lost) when I try to move my data base from one computer to another.

Does any one can help me?

Access Rights

How do I give someone rights to edit in Biblioscape?

Importing into the catalog

Good day,

I hope I am now posting to the correct forum for my query. I would like to import hundreds of records from an old InMagic catalog into my new catalog. I understand from Mr. Chen that after importing all records into the references module you simply select the records and go to: References | To other module | Copy to catalog.

Unfortunately, I am not seeing this menu or any of these options in my toolbars. Please advise! I have been trying with no success to move my library from two catalogs to one for almost 2 1/2 years now. I am almost at the point of reverting back to InMagic.

Searching the library catalog -library edition module

The Library catalog-Library Edition. We have a list of references, but when I try to search the catlog records by subject, author or title, the program defaults to searching attributes of the Borrower. How can I change this default to search the library records?

Thanks, Pamela
