Now my categories are all gone!! Actually the list appears, but when I click on the category on the right, no references appear in the center pane. What appears to have happened is that most of the categories in the references (except the most recent ones) have had the categories rewritten from _category_ to __category__. References with no category are listed with category __. I tried to rebuild, but no improvement.
This may have happened when the program hung, and I had to stop it. (This is not unusual! Maybe not enough memory on my computer?) I also made the categories visible in the editing window for journal articles and notes by going to the Tools>Options>Reference types tab, and putting "categories" in the categories row under "journal article" and "notes."
What now? This is frustrating.

Tom, I do not know what caused the extra "_" to be added around a category item. I removed them in your database. Please let me know if you can reproduce this. Thanks.
