Could someone please advise me as to which combination of export/import options is best for exporting Zotero references into Biblioscape (6.x in my case)?
Zotero's export options (under "Export Library...") include BibTex, Endnote, and RIS, plus a few other formats that Biblioscape doesn't seem to support.
Biblioscape's import options include BibTex, 2 versions of Endnote, and 4 versions of RIS.
Which export/import options do you recommend so that I can get references from Zotero into Biblioscape with the least amount of corruption, mis-matched fields, etc.? Thanks!
I suggest using EndNote
I suggest using EndNote Refer format.
here's what works for me
For anyone else who wants to do this, here's what seems to work best for me:
1. In Zotero, export using the "Refer/BibIX" format, and save the text file somewhere convenient.
2. Open the text file with Notepad, select everything, and copy it to the clipboard.
3. In Biblioscape, open the Import dialog and select "Endote -- Refer" as the import filter.
4. Still in Bilblioscape, click on the "Import from Clipboard" button.
The reason why I import from the clipboard is that importing directly from the text file results in serious mojibake (garbled characters) for ALL of the references that contain Japanese. For whatever reason the mojibake is eliminated when importing from the clipboard.
Refer/BibIX to Endnote --
Refer/BibIX to Endnote -- Refer doesn't work for me with version 7. What works is RIS (and it will take all the notes, semicolon separated, if you check the "Export Notes" option) to RIS -- ERIC. I exported URLs and Web notes (which you don't really need it with the Internet module) as Refer/BibIX to BibTex. URLs are little scrambled in the latter case (there are additional "/" for some reason). Importing as Endnote -- Refer never worked with anything in my case.
Wouldn't it be much more convenient if we had a Firefox plugin similar to this one for Biblioscape where we can do these basic tasks and collect data? Or if we can just import all these filters from Zotero to Biblioscape?
