Creating new output style

I am in the midst of creating a new style using Biblioscape 6.7 for legal writing, and just wanted to make sure:

1. I am creating new reference types, such as "UN Documents", and will probably end completely replacing the standard reference type list that comes with Biblioscape. Will completely replacing the list (e.g. deleting "Audiovisual Works" and replacing it with more specific types like "CD-ROM or DVD", "Radio Transcripts", etc.) pose a problem for exporting and importing the new style? Do I need to retain the existing reference types in the list?

2. I would like the Bibliography to organize them according to "Primary Sources," divided into "legislation" and "cases", and "Secondary Sources" divided into "books" and "articles"; can Biblioscape do this? How do I tell it to do so?

3. Is the version 6.7 exported style file format still compatible with version 7.x?

Thanks!

1. You don't have to retain

1. You don't have to retain existing styles. It will not pose a problem for exporting and importing styles. But you have to redo the refeference types customization in verison 7 because currently no automatic upgrade is supported. So if there are lots of work, it is better to do it in version 7.

2. For uses of version 7, I would suggest create two categories "Primary Source" and "Secondary Source" and tag references with them. For users of older version, you can use folders to do this.

3. Version 6 styles can be imported into version 7. But as I mentioned above, you have to redo the reference types customization.

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks Paul, just one more

Thanks Paul, just one more clarification:

Regarding your reply No. 2 above, so by organizing the references into folders, i can make the output Bibliography that is created by the "Format Manuscript" command automatically categorize them according to those folders? Or do i need to do this categorized print-out separately via the "File/Print Bibliography" command?

When you use "Format

When you use "Format Manuscript", you cannot do subject bibliography. You can only do this by using "File | Print Bibliography".

I think this has been

I think this has been requested before? But to join in, it would be a useful feature if we could group references for formatting in some way. For example, so that that the automatically generated bibliography could have sections with independent internal rules (Author, Date, etc.): e.g., Books, Films, Electronic Sources.

Yes. This is in our to do

Yes. This is in our to do list for future releases. Thanks.
