Hi,
I use Biblioscape 7.15 and have observed some strange behaviour with the lookup function.
First, when using lookup to insert an author, the author's name is inserted twice, even though the entry box in the lookup window only displays the name once.
Also, this happened: An author name was inserted (appeared twice as stated above). Then, the lookup function was used for "journal title" field in a reference already containing a journal title. When cancel button was pressed in lookup window, the "journal title" entry field displayed the journal title as before, directly followed by twice the author name that was inserted previously.
When testing, I found that the same thing happened for all fields using lookup, not only "author" and "journal title".

Erika
another issue related to
another issue related to look up (and keywords).
sometimes i need to use quite long keywords (is there a per-keyword character limit?). for example:
philosophy: radical continental (all one keyword)
similar naming of subjects is common to many libraries. given that biblioscape does not support delimited entries in the subjects field, it seems reasonable that keywords ought to support long entries.
the look up table trancates long keywords so that the last part is invisible. in the reference they seem to be preserved OK.
can this be fixed please? or am i missing a setting somewhere?
You can use the DBSYS utlity
You can use the DBSYS utlity inluded under the "Tools" folder to increase the field length in table "kw_x". In DBSYS, go to "Utilities | Restructure..." and select the table "kw_x" under your database folder. Increase the field length from 30 to 60 if you want.
thanks. i did as you
thanks. i did as you reccommended. however, the truncated entries are still there. i also notice that the other lookup categories, for example "authors" also contain entries that are old, have been replaced and cannot be found with other search tools. I tried rebuilding with no effect. is there a way or a trick to force the lookup to update so that it would reflect the data in the references?
Any futher word on this
Any futher word on this please? Still not working....
To update the lookup table,
To update the lookup table, please go to "File | Database | Update lookup index". If the keyword stored in lookup table is still trucated at 30 char after this, please let me know. Thanks.
