Categories seem to have a mind of their own in V 7.11. A few examples:

Deleting a category removes it from some but not all items that had that category, not even after rebuild indexes and rebuild database.

Edit/Replace All removes some but not all of the old (non-existent) categories.

Categories are added with no input from the user. Example:

Create new category, do nothing with it

Delete another category that is used.

(Both were at the top level of the hierarchy.)

The deleted category is removed from some items but it remains in others.

Some (but not all) of the items that were in the deleted category acquire the new category.

I assume that it is probably better to remove a category from all items before deleting it, but this is awkward. It can take a while, and there seems to be a limit on how many items can be selected at a time for this.

Categories have disappeared from large groups of items for reasons that I don't understand. I suspect that this is related to the issues above.

Finally, is there any way to move a category from Old Folders to Categories? Dragging and dropping categories from Old Folders into Categories in the left pane does not seem to work.
