Notes

Dear Paul,

Wow, Biblioscape 7 is coming along really nicely. The following are improvements that would make the notes module functional for me.

1. It needs a better rich text editor. I need to be able to paste content from photos and pdfs into notes and feel confident that the information will be there when I need it. Right now it seems to disappear when you open a note for the second time.

2. I would like a spot in the preview header of the notes that will indicate the existence of a link to an external file.

3. A way to get notes cleanly from biblioscape to word processor. The slickest way would be a drag and drop with an option to either include the title of the note or not include the title of the note. Also, an option to include a temporary citation for all linked references.

I realize that these are not insignificant improvements, but they would make biblioscape a truly integrated research tool.

Another useful tool that other note taking software is now offering is the automatic creation of notes from the clipboard. Something else to think about down the line.

Looking forward to biblioscape's continued development in the future. Thanks for the great product.

Matt

1. We will try to use a

1. We will try to use a  better rich text editor in the next major release.

2. In 7.11, the number of links will be included in the links tab caption. For example: Links (3). So you don't need to select the links tab to see if there is a link  or note.

3. In 7.11, you can select the note text, hold down the Ctrl key and drag drop it to your word processor. All linked references will be added as temp citations. http://support.biblioscape.com/node/790

Thank you for your suggestions.

Copy Note Text with Temp Citations command

3. This sounds good. May I suggest providing a copy/paste routine too, similar to how Temporary Citations can be copied... ...for people with small laptop screens.

Also, will this operation be possible with more than one note? E.g. several arbitrary selections, parent note with its children, parent without children.

Notes pasting

I'm using Word2003 and after selecting the notes text and holding the control key when I move the cursor into the Word document it changes to the circle with a line through it, and I'm not able to paste.

I can copy and paste text from the note to Word, but I get no citation information.

Word's security setting is set to low.

Sincerely,  Michael

My experience is the same,

My experience is the same, but the idea is very good :)

I guess I'm going to have to start spending more time with the new documentation for v. 7, there's much to keep up with.

Keep up the great work,

Michael, this new feature

Michael, this new feature will be added in 7.11 which will be made available this weekend. Thanks.

7.11 does bring the

7.11 does bring the reference text into Word as described above. Nice start. However, the text loses of the formatting in the note and looks jumbled. May I suggest that formatting ought to be preserved? Perhaps as an option?

Now, even the paragraph breaks are lost at export. The export function is not really usable like that, especially with lists.

Also, please see my suggestion above RE other methods of export.

Anna, formatting will be

Anna, formatting will be preserved in 7.12 release during inter application drag and drop. The only thing we can't include is graphics. Thanks.

very cool!

Nice work Paul,

I really think the way v.7 automatically adds linked references as temporary citations is very strong.

A minor glitch is that the program appears to add "_" (that is an underline dash) after the temporary citation... Not a big deal, but probably should be removed.

You've really been cranking on this thing!  Great work.

Thanks. The graphics is less

Thanks. The graphics is less important but as I menioned before more options on how to move content between applications would be good.
