I downloaded 7.0.1 for evaluation 3 weeks ago. I imported about 300 references into Biblioscape from Citation 9, all showing up successfully under REFERENCES. Almost all had problems with field mapping, which I've been slowly fixing, before sending the repaired reference into a topical sub-folder. As I've gone along, I've added a fair number of NOTES linked to the repaired references in an evolving tree-structure. All was going very well, accomplishing exactly what I've been looking for for years.
Monday night suddenly a couple of sub-folders under REFERENCES simply disappeared. Some work brought all but one of them back, though no longer within the REFERENCES tree-structure. I decided to sign on for the night.
Tuesday morning I started up Biblioscape and discovered that ALL of my references which had not yet been sorted into sub-folders had vanished! References within sub-folders, however, were still there. Rebuilding the database didn't help. Downloading the 7.0.4 patch didn't help. Rolling back to my backup of Saturday night didn't help, nor did a rebuild from the rolled-back. Clicking on the Show All References does not bring up the missing references either.
I'm completely at a loss about what next to try. Any ideas?
The experience has shaken me deeply. While the design of the program offers just what I want [I've tried or evaluated all of the major competitors which don't offer such power for note-taking], I fear that the program's current instability may render it unusable. I do hope there's a solution.

Tom,The possibility of such
Tom,
The possibility of such an event is why I still do not use B7 for any real work. It feel it is not yet a finished product but I hope if we all help to point out the bugs and problems it will become production-ready soon.
If you do not mind doing it, sending your database to Paul might help in this process and fix your problems too.
Also, you might want to have a look at the tables in your database using standalone Database System Utility
http://www.biblioexpress.com/dbsys.zip
See if there references are there. If you cannot see them – they are likely to be gone. If you do – maybe something dodgy happened with the indexing.
Paul, does this utility work fine with B7?
I shall be interested to hear what will happen, if you get it sorted yourself or with Paul’s help – please let us know the details.
I would also very much like to hear what software you have evaluated and why you adjudged it unsuitable or lacking.
Thanks for sharing…
Tom, please zip all the
Tom, please zip all the files under your database folder and email me the zip. It is most likely the records are still there, just won't show correctly in the folders. Have you gone to "References | Retrieve All" to see how many references you still have?
Your nudge led me to the solution!
Paul, I checked the number remaining -- 122. Then I decided to check ALL folders to doublecheck the totals -- and I discovered the missing files in the DELETED FOLDER, most of them deleted on MONDAY -- guess I should have thought to look there before sounding the alarm.
WHEW!!!
I've also discovered the "restore" button. I'll be back in business by tonight.
I've also confirmed that I'm up-to-date with patches, now have version 7.04. Hope the fixes will help me get the folder sequence/hierarchy sorted back into proper order.
Thanks, by the way, for your prompt response to my alarm bell.

Tom, the folder item
Tom, the folder item sequence/hierarchy bug is still not fixed. Hopefully, we will get it fixed in 7.05 release. Thanks.
