Biblioscape Tag Import/Export: Behaviour and Problems

Exported some references in Biblioscape Tag format with all fields included. Categories field was empty. No words “Film Maker” were present in the text file. Imported into B7.01 and got the following:

  

Looks like a category minus the underscores. Does not appear in any of Categories windows. Repeated attempts did not reproduce this. Any ideas?

Biblioscape should not add

Biblioscape should not add category not in the tag file. During import, there is an option to add categories to all records imported. Did you use that feature? Please email me the file you were trying to import. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I deleted the file this before noticing this behaviour. I tried to repeat but it worked as expected. If I see it again I shall send you an example. I used the default settings for export.

I would appreciate knowing

I would appreciate knowing in detail what is involved when references are exported/imported in Biblioscape Tag format (I have read the description in the Knowledge Base http://www.biblioscape.com/tips/tip_010710.htm).

Any issues when exporting from earlier versions and then importing into B7? E.g. I notice that:

1. Original RefIDs are lost and new are built at import time

2. date created and date modified are stamped using import time

3. previous date created value is moved into Custom 1 field

Anything else?

(maybe this could go to a Help article somewhere…?)
