It would be very useful to me if BS7 offered more options for organizing/moving folders, categories, notes etc in the tree view. At present, I can only insert new items at the bottom of a branch and move them up to the parent branch. What I would like to be able to do is (preferably via a right-click context menu and/or drag & drop):
- moving items up and down within the same branch
- moving items to the right (now called moving up) and left
- inserting elements above and below a selected item
- sorting items within a selected branch or all branches alphabetically
- moving items up and down
- moving items up and down within the same branch
Hold down the Alt key first, then drag and drop an item up and down.
- moving items to the right (now called moving up) and left
Select an item and drag and drop it to another item to move right, drag and drop to an item in high level to move left.
- inserting elements above and below a selected item
Do you want it to insert above or below by default?
- sorting items within a selected branch or all branches alphabetically
If you click the column header, it will sort all records. But there is no way to only sort a section of records.
Thank you, Paul, I didn't
Thank you, Paul, I didn't know this functionality.
Regarding the default entry for inserting new categories I'd prefer 'below'.
I've managed to re-order my categories. However, there seem to be some issues:
1. After having closed and restarted BS7, the order and structure of the categories tree had changed; some child entries even have become parent entries and vice versa. So far, I could not detect any system behind this behavior.
2. There should be a way to turn off the column header sorting, viz to re-load the user adapted order. At present I can achieve this by clicking the category type column header, but this obviously only works if all the categories in a given branch are of the same type.
3. In the categories pane of the references and notes modules the category tree has a completely different order (again mixing child and parent elements, but not in the same way as in the categories module).
4. Although I can include the 'count' field in the categories grid, it does not show any occurences.
I agree. Adding this kind of
I agree. Adding this kind of functionality would take B7 one step closer to having a built-in outliner. The next step will have to provide a way to view multiple notes in a category (or other container) as one continuous text.
Yes, that will be added
Yes, that will be added later.
