Dear Paul
I'm just trying out Biblioscape 7.01 - very nice job! I shied away from the alpha releases, but the package looks good now, and will definitely be worth buying if some problems are ironed out.
The first I'm posting about is to do with the help functionality. This seems a work in progress. The main menu mentions "online help" and "web help". The former points to the handbook in this forum, the latter to an old clip about Biblioscape 2(!). Then there is the vertical tab in some windows variously labelled "Help" or "Web Help". This doesn't seem to work properly - I can't seem to get any page displayed.
My questions are:
Are there plans to streamline these help functions and integrate them into one or two categories (for example, one online and one offline help)?
A related point: Will the handbook be integrated into Biblioscape itself once it is more complete, as had been the case in previous releases? Especially when working on a laptop, users won't always be connected to the internet, so it would be nice to have some help functionality available offline.
Would it be possible to add more to the handbook on the subject of categories, which are a new feature? I think I understand how categories are used, but I don't understand the types of category available (theme, topic, association, association role, occurrence), or the additional parameters that can be set when creating or editing a category.
Thanks,
Dennis
Update on Help Functionality
Hi Paul
Where are you up to with the offline help?
I ask because I have now worked out my category schema and want to implement it but I am a bit uncertain how to do so.
Warm regards/gary
We will first work on the
We will first work on the web based help. Once it is complete, we will create an offline version. The online handbook will be integrated into the Help tab of Biblioscape. More will be added about categories module. The terms you mentioned are from the concept of topic maps. It is a way to manage knowledge. The help menu mistakes will be corrected in 7.02 release. Thanks.
