Exporting single references

Hi Paul,

I'm working simultaneously with B6 and B7. I create references in B6 and synchronize them with BiblioPalm. I keep the same database in B7 to write minor papers and test the new version.

Question: my current B6 database has more than 3800 references. How can I export only the new references I create in B6 to B7? After the crash in my computer last week I reinstalled everything, but since then I have new 67 references in B6 that I want to send to B7. If I export the whole database again, I'll loose the notes/categories/tasks that I created in B7 since then.

By the way, is the opposite way possible (that is, working primarily with B7 and sending the new references to B6/Bibliopalm)?

Thanks for helping,

Milene

You can do a search to list

You can do a search to list all the references you want to export, or you can use mouse to select the references you want to export, then go to "File | Export". Export references as Biblioscape tag file. On the other PC, go to "File | Import" and use the import filter "Biblioscape Tag File" to import it.

Search option works - mouse selection doesn't

Hi Paul,

thanks for helping. After perfoming a search (Quick search/ date created/ today) I'm able to export only the last created references.

But if I see all references in a folder and select only a few of them with the mouse (either with the help of Shift or Ctrl keys) Biblioscape automatically exports all references in the folder.

Well, the first option suits my immediate needs, but it would be nice to be able to select references randomly and having them exported.

Regards, Milene

When there is only one

When there is only one reference selected, Biblioscape will export all in the list. When export using the Wizard, all in the list will be exported no matter how many are selected. When export as tagged, rtf, html, only the selected will be exported. Thanks.

Hi Paul,Do you mean that it

Hi Paul,

Do you mean that it is never possible under any circumstances to export just ONE  reference?

I ask because I haven't found it possible to export just one reference, even when selecting "Tagged" and choosing "Biblioscape tag file." Instead the whole list of references is exported.

If I select two references, however, only the two references are exported. This is better than having the whole list, but still not very convenient because after exporting the file one has to edit out the reference one does not want.

Incidentally, somewhere in the documentation I recall reading that the Biblioscape tag file had the extension *.btf, but when I used "export" the extension given to the tag file was *.txt.

All the best,

Derek

You are right. We thought no

You are right. We thought no one want to export just one reference. So when only one reference is selected, we assume the user wants to export the whole list. Otherwise we have prompt the user everytime in such case. We should let users vote about this.
