Problems with Cited Pages

Dear List Members

I’ve just started using BS6 (Windows, Word 2002/XP) and experience some problems using Cited Pages (the problems are about the same when I use suffixes in brackets instead of Cited Pages).

1. Unwanted removal of spaces if there is no comma after @:

As I do not always want to have a comma before the pinpoint I add the comma manually in the temporary citation (and not in the output style):

[[Author 2006 @, S. 20 #100]] or [[Author 2006 @ S. 20 #100]]

While the first example formats well, in the second example the space after @ is removed: AuthorS. 20 (instead of Author S. 20 as I want it to be).

2. Unwanted removal of certain characters:

Cited pages works fine with: p., S., N etc. (@, p. 100; @, S. 100; @, N 15)

But other characters such as § or ¶ (paragraph sign) are removed. Is there a way to display such characters?

3. How to use brackets in Cited Pages?

What I need is this: Author, S. 79 (N 10)

However, when I use the temporary citation: [[Author 2006 @, S. 79 (N 10) #100]] Biblioscape interprets the brackets as suffix and repeats the data: Author, S. 79 (N 10)N10. Is there a way to use brackets in Cited Pages?

Thank you for your help

Lars

Problems 1 and 3 will be fixed in the next version 7 beta release. For problem 2, it may be related to the font used. The lower half of ascii sets are not consistent between fonts.

best way to cite page numbers?

Paul,
in this thread, the "@, p. 1" notation is shown.
The manual
http://support.biblioscape.com/node/632
only mentions the "(, p. 1)" notation.
Which of both is the preferred one, i.e. be supported in future versions of Biblioscape?
And: Shouldn't the "@, p. 1" notation be added to the manual page?

Cited pages is for footnote

Cited pages is for footnote styles that has the "Cited Pages" entry included. The following section is added to the page you mentioned.

Cited pages

For styles that use author-date system, including cited pages inside parenthesis as shown above should be enough to handle the needs. For styles that generate citations in footnote, cited pages have to be added differently. Some output styles for footnote require you to include cited pages for cited books. These styles are mostly used in the fields of humanity and art. Many cited citations are from different sections of the same book. So adding cited pages is mandatory in such cases. Biblioscape style editor supports cited pages. You enter the cited pages in temporary citation in the form: [Sood, A. 1989 @45-47 #23]. During formatting, Biblioscape will extract the page numbers after the @ sign. The extracted page numbers will be treated as other items in an output styles. That means, you can add text before and after it, you can pick the font style to apply, and you can choose how start page and end page to be formatted. If Biblioscape finds cited pages in a temporary citation, it will format it according to the specification in the output style used. If there is no cited pages entry in the style you used, cited pages data found in temporary citation will be ignored. So, in order to use cited pages, you have to be sure that cited pages entry is included in the style you chose.
