I seem to be running into multiple errors here. I am new to this and hope someone can help me. When I try to open Biblioscape I get a 'cannot create file 'c:\.....FisheriesRefs.bsl'. This is the directory of the database I previously created. I click OK and then Biblioscape opens up. When I try to rebuild the database I get a "TProgressBar out of range" error. I have tried to shutdown and restart, then, with Biblio closed going into the Windows directory, finding the Tools.....\rebuild.exe file and clicking on that. If I click rebuild database I get the same error as above, if I click Rebuild Global I get a DBISAM Engine Error #11013 Access Denied error".
I am using the One Month Evaluation license as I am evaluating to see which Reference Software I would like to buy. I am not the Adminstrator on this computer, however, I don't see why this would make a difference. Most people working for either government or in the corporate world are not going to have Admin right to their computers.
Thank you in advance.
same error
I can confirm the same error message. I get the "TProgressBar out of range" error whenever attempting to rebuild my database via the "Rebuild.exe" tool. The global rebuild works fine.
You can zip all the files
You can zip all the files under your database folder and email me the zip. I will try to reproduce it. Paul (support@biblioscape.com)
It looks like your windows
It looks like your windows account doesn't have the privilege to write to the folder where Biblioscape is installed. Your system admin may have implemented this policy. You can solve this problem by installing Biblioscape to a folder where you have the write privilege.
Privileges are not the problem
Windows programming guidelines strongly suggest that an application should never try to store data in its program folder; the application should write data to one of the "Special Folders", such as [user]\Application Data, or [user]\Local Settings\Application Data, etc.
However, that's not the problem here. I'm running the application as an administrator (not recommended, but I do programming on the VM where it's running, and it's easier to program when you're admin and you can just mess with the registry etc.). I'm also getting the same TProgressBar out of range error when trying to export a db to Refer EndNote format, and I also get a cascade of errors when I start up the app, beginning with "No valid Acrobat serial number found" (what does Acrobat have to do with Biblioscape?) and ending with "Unspecified error". Privileges are not the problem here. (This is on XP Pro.)
Cheers,
Martin
I cannot reproduce the
I cannot reproduce the TProgressBar error. Can you zip all the files under your database folder and email me the zip (or let me know where to download)? Please also let me know how to reproduce the bug. Thanks, Paul
The database in question is
The database in question is the one that you kindly converted for me the other day, so you already have a copy. Choosing "Political Societies" on the left, and then selecting all the documents in the list, and exporting to Refer -- EndNote format results in a freeze; the Export References dialog box stops responding and I have to kill the application. To generate the TProgressBar message, select no documents and do the export (this was what I was doing when trying to export the whole database -- I assumed that would be possible).
Cheers,
Martin
I tested exporting to Refere
I tested exporting to Refere EndNote with your database and everything worked fine. Can you reproduce the problem? Paul
