bibliography formatting of journals without volume numbers

Hi,

Any hint how to omit volume number in journal references that do not have volume numbers? Global omission is not desired as most journals have volume numbers, what I would like to see is conditional omission for the volume field if it is empty:

Instead of this

Mitsunobu, O., The use of diethyl azodicarboxylate and triphenylphosphine in synthesis and transformations of natural products. Synthesis 1981, , 1-28.

this one

Mitsunobu, O., The use of diethyl azodicarboxylate and triphenylphosphine in synthesis and transformations of natural products. Synthesis 1981, 1-28.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Lajos I think you should

Hi Lajos
I think you should be able to edit styles to achieve what you want. When you edit styles you can edit each element in what is presented and insert or delete the leading or trailing characters (eg , . ; etc) I just checked my references and I do not get the same presentation of the references as you do ... I removed the volume number to check.

Stephen is right. Which

Stephen is right. Which style did you use? You can modify that style. The comma is probably associated with the "starting page" field. You can make it associate with the "volume" field. So when volum is missing, the comma won't show.

Problem solved

Hi,

Many thanks, I solved the issue according to your suggestion (I created my own style that had to be modified).
Best wishes,
