If you type a new search term into the "Look for" box and click the little magnifying glass button, it does a search for the previously used search term, not the one you just typed.
In the Folder List, I selected the "Boronic Acid" folder (for no reason, really).
In the "Look for" field on the menu toolbar, I typed "acid" and did not hit the Enter key.
Instead, I clicked the magnifying glass icon that's immediately to the right of the "Look for" field.
Result: the search window popped open, showing 0 hits. In the search window, the "Look for" field is blank, as if I had done a search for "" [null].
Closed the search window.
Repeated steps 3 and 4, but this time typing "boron" as the search term. Result: 0 hits, same as step 5. Closed the search window.
Typed "neutron" in the "Look for" field, and this time hit the "Enter" key. Result: 8 hits. Closed the search window.
Typed "acid" in the "Look for" field and clicked the icon. Result: 8 hits, but they're for "neutron". In the search window, "neutron" is shown in the "Look for" field. Closed the search window.
Typed "acid" in the field and hit "Enter". Result: 12 hits. Closed the search window.
Typed "development" in the field and clicked the icon. Result: 12 hits, but they're for "acid."
As you can see, the only time I get the correct search results is when I hit the Enter key. Clicking the search icon seems to inherit the input from the previous search if there was one.
