Internet Module - Resources.

Biblioscape 7. Alpha 2.

The new tabs to the resources pane are great!

In the Favorites tab the favorites are not displayed.

New favourites can be added from the right mouse click in the web page pane but only after entering an existing folder or creating a new folder. They cannot be added at the root level of the favorites.

This area looks as if it may still be work in progress, so sorry if these comments are premature.

The history tab contents are currently not displaying.
The notes tab is displaying as blank.

Favorites and History aren't working?

I have the same problem described above; the History and favorites tabs aren't working. They are gray dim with nothing you can do. Any idea why this is so?

In 7.27 release, we will

In 7.27 release, we will make those two tabs invisible. Once we added needed features, the tabs will be made visible again. Thanks.

Unable to Use Japanese Characters When Naming

Hi Paul

In the Resources - Internet Module in the beta version, when I open "organize" and then select "New" I get the error window- "sample.bsl Biblioscape Query_bibSource:'Field Folder_ID' not found." I am not sure if I am the only one that is getting this error.

I wanted to create a new connection file to test if a bug had been fixed that appeared in the Biblioscape 6. The problem I have is when I create a new connection and type in the title of connection in Japanese and type in all the necessary information and then close it, this new connection does not appear in the Resources list. If I use English titles the connection appears in the list. For example, there is one connection to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun which in Japanese is ?????? that I cannot type in Japanese.

Looking forward to your comments.

This bug has been fixed in

This bug has been fixed in the second alpha release. In order to make the Japanese words to be shown correctly, you need to set your Windows default language to Japanese (http://www.biblioscape.com/tips/tip_020318.htm).

Windows fault language set to Japanese because Japanese OS

Paul

I have posted this elsewhere also that my default is Japanese, especially since I am using a Japanese OS XP SP2. But the problem still exists ... when I type a Japanese name for a title for a connection, Biblioscape does not record it in the resources list ... the listing I type disappears! This does not happen if I do it in English.

Darren, Does this only

Darren, Does this only happen to the Title field of resource list? How about other controls in reference editor? Thanks.

Problem Resolved for Resources ... But ...

Hello Paul

As for the problem with entering Japanese in the Title field of the resource list, and all the other fields, after clicking on and off the choice of Japanese in the Tool>Options>Format Manuscript a number of times the problem now seems resolved. But this is in Version 6 .... because of the bug in the beta version I have not tested that yet.

The problems I do have is trying to input and have Japanese displayed is the "Biblioword" module and the "Notes" module.

In both these modules when I am typing Japanese it doesn't appear where the cursor is. The typing input appears in a small window at the bottom of the screen. Then when I press "Enter", the inputed text goes to where the cursor is but is not displayed Japanese.

Further, when I select Capture Page>As A Note in the Internet Module, the text that is captured in from the Japanese web page and displayed not Japanese, but rather garbled random weird characters.

So, over all the problems seem to be with "Note" and "BiblioWord" modules only. (Well that is far as I have tested so far).

The different setting options you have offered so far seem to relate to those who are not using a native Japanese OS like I am. The suggestions seem to be for those who use Japanese (or other double byte languages) on say a native English OS.

I really hope there can be some sort of solution.

By the way, I do not have this type of problem with other English version software that was not even designed for non-English. For instance, download and try at http://www.ideamason.com

This software compliments Biblioscape very well when doing research ... and has the type of look that I hope Biblioscape will have in the future.

Anyway, I hope you are able to help out with the Note and BiblioWord modules.

In addition .. Beta version

Paul

First read my comments above then these comments ...

My comments were about Biblioscape Version 6. I notice there is no "BiblioWord" in the beta version. Also I cannot test the "Notes" module because when I click on Notes I get an error window that says "sample.bsl - Biblioscape Cannot focus a disabled or invisible window". When I close this window I can only type a title of the note, the area where the main text is to be typed is greyed out. When I try to type a title in Japanese, the Japanese appears in the title area where I type it. But once I close this window, the title appears in the list of all the notes not in Japanese, but garbled characters.

By the way, what happened to "BiblioWord" in the beta version?

Again ... looking forward to hearing from you ... for now I need to climb into bed ...

Darren, In version 7, if the

Darren, In version 7, if the "Format double byte language" box is checked in "Tools | Options" window "Format Manuscript" tab is checked, Biblioscape will use a different control for Notes and Document field that support Japanese. This works for both Japanese Windows or English Windows. Thanks.
