I find the toggle button for the folder and tabs panes confusing: one the pane is closed, the button is still an X.
For the folder pane, could be a folder icon or tree icon. Note that the folder icon on the top right hand corner could be changed to the 3 pane icon.
For the tabs, there is no need for a X button once the tab is closed.
When a tabs pane is open, it seems more intuitive to close the pane by clicking on the tab again.
