Word 2007 Integration

What is the situation with this please? Now that Office 2007 is out, will there be an update to the formatting tools in Word? When? Or will the existing tools work with the new Word? If not, can you please suggest a possible workaround workflow for now? Save to RTF>Format Manually>Reopen in Word? Are there problems with this that are new to Word 2007's file structure?

Thanks for the clarification and advice.

As I am reading this:

As I am reading this: http://blogs.msdn.com/joe_friend/archive/2006/07/13/664960.aspx I am getting more curious. It seems there will be good opportunities for better integration with Word (which is truly needed!). Can you share the plans?

Once version 7 is released,

Once version 7 is released, we will support the export of Biblioscape records in Word citation source format. So user can use a sub-set of records in Word.

Avoiding rtf?

It would actually be really useful if the intelligence of the new Word functionality could be harvested so that rtf could be completely avoided. I have extensive graphics and equations in most of my documents so i end up manually amending my Word file from the formatted rtf file so as to avoid the massive file sizes and general errors that rtf gives me.

Avoid RTF?

I'd like to note in response to Jen's request that not all users of word processing packages use MS Word. Make fuller Word integration available as an alternative to HTML and RTF by all means, but I think the RTF option is still needed to preserve flexibility for users of Open Office, Word Perfect, etc.

As a tip: I'm familiar with the RTF problems you describe. My documents, too, contain tables, figures and special formatting that is often not rendered properly when taking the detour via RTF. I've managed over the years to minimise these problems by taking a more DTP-like approach to writing: create and edit the text and graphics separately (i.e., in separate files or in separate sections of the document) and only bring them together at the end, when you have formatted the text with Biblioscape. This modular approach has many other advantages that have nothing to do with Biblioscape, such as increased ease of keeping formatting consistent throughout your document.
