What would be the best way to enter a book that is three volumes in one. It is the same author. I suppose the author would be considered an editor. The books are three previously published books by one author and later compiled and republished into a one-volume work.

I would enter it as a separate record. If you need to cite the 3 volumes publlished before, enter them as separate records as well. You can click the BaseOn button to create a duplicate record, then make minor changes.

Thank you. The problem I am having is what fields should i use so that it comes out as a work within a work. Do I use the series field? or name the author as an editor first? I think the turabian designation is 11.28 for multiple complete works by same author in one volume. It comes out something like: (from memory)

My concern is how to enter the info so that the formatted footnote, etc. comes out correctly.

Jay, I would use reference type "Book". Put "One of My Complete Works" in the Title field. Put "A One Volume Compilation of Several Complete Works" in the "Series Title" field.
