Repeated References in Footnotes

I'm using footnote citation and use abbreviated citations if a citation gets repeated. I want a repeated citation to refer to the footnote in which the citation was presented the first time, e.g.:

[2] Alison Stone, "Being, Knowledge, and Nature in Novalis", Journal of the History of Philosophy, vol. 46, no. 1 (Jan. 2008), 152.

[5] Stone, "Being, Knowledge, and Nature", 148 (FN 2).

Is there a way to achieve this? NB: The footnotes are managed by Word and I use footnotes also for comments, not only citations.

Thank you.

I don't see a way to automate this. Is this required by a major style?
