importing database from ms works

I am trying to import a large database from ms works. I have saved it as a xml file using comma separated values but have had no success in creating an import filter that imports the xml file. There must surely be an existing filter that would import a xml file but if so I can't find it. Please help.

This always happens -- as soon as I scream for help I work out what to do by trial and error. Sorry to have troubled you - thanks. I have successfully imported my database - now to learn how to work with it.
