OK, I have no idea how I did this or how to undo it. Somehow while attempting to create my first Smart Collection (I failed) I changed one of my reference folders to a collection view in the project window. It has a little chain icon next to it, just like the collections I've created, and it shows 0 references (there should be over 200 in there). In the status bar it says: "Items: 0 | Collection: Folders > Law > Copyright" whereas my other reference folders say something like Folder: Folders > Law > FolderName. Right-clicking and selecting properties show that it is still a folder, not a collection. The references all appear to be in my database if I search for them. It's clear that somehow I've changed the view options for the "Copyright" folder; how do I change it back?
When you go to a project
When you go to a project Properties window, the project type selection is disabled. How did you change a folder to a collection in the first place?
Beats me
I definitely didn't do it through the Project Properties window. When I open that window now for the Copyright references folder, it says Kind: Folder and Location: Folders > Law > Copyright. So the Copyright folder is still there, probably holding the same number of records it did before. But in the Project portion of the main window, it displays as a collection (it's got a chain icon) having 0 records, and selecting it displays no records.
An additional piece of information, not sure about relevance: when I go to "Links" under "Places" now, I see 4 recently added links, between my Copyright Category and my Copyright folder, going each way, and between my Copyright folder and a subcategory of the Copyright Category. I managed to remove the first pair of links by going to Categories then selecting "Copyright" and going to the links tab, but the links tab for the subcategory doesn't show anything and I can't delete the last two links.
Managed to delete folder links
I managed to delete the last pair of links between the Copyright folder and the subcategory. However, the Copyright folder is still showing in the Project window as a collection.

I opened the database you sent me. The folder "Copyright" is not displayed as a collection in the projects tree. Can you email me a screenshot of your project tree?
Did you open the second one I sent?
Unfortunately the first database I sent was from before the problem manifested. I sent you the more recent version this afternoon -- boyden7-22_1727.zip. I just tried opening it on a different computer and I have the same problem.
I manually changed the
I manually changed the project type from "Collection" to "Folder". I don't know how it could be changed in the first place. I emailed your database as a zip file.
Fixed!
Great, it seems to be working now, thanks Paul! I'll make a backup the next time I try to create a search collection and pay closer attention to what I do in case it recurs.
Please zip all the files
Please zip all the files under your database folder and email me the zip. Paul (support@biblioscape.com)
