Hi Paul,
I have decided to use a product called Dropbox to synch my files via numerous computers, as well as provide an online backup. Previously I had my database in my documents folder and all of my attached files were in the attachments folder within the individual database. There was no problem with bringing up attached folders within biblioscape. The problems started when I moved my database folder into the dropbox folder.
I lost the ability to pull up any pdfs within biblioscape. I also tried to see if moving the folder back to its original destination would fix the problem. It didn't. Anytime I click on the pdf option, I get "Unspecificed Error". I also tried to relink the file from its new location and still got "unspecified error" I have not moved any individual files. I only placed the my research folder within a new folder(Dropbox).
Any suggestions for restoring attachment paths? Right now I can't even create a new path.
Jim

What is a dropbox folder? Is it a folder on your local drive? When you open a reference, what is listed in the field "Attachment"? Thanks, Paul

Paul,
The dropbox folder is stored on my harddrive. It simply synchs my files with online serve that allows both storage and retrieval of files on line. However, I think I found the problem. Pdfs no longer open in biblioscape, but I can
I think I may have found the problem. The pdf file no longer opens in biblioscape. But, I can open the attachment with the link that allows me to view the pdf in a new window. I have Adobe Professional 7.0 and Adobe Reader 9 installed? I remember some other users indicating they had a problem in this area. I, however, never encountered it until now. Is there a way to restore pdf usability within Biblioscape? Uninstalling and reinstalling my adobe products in a particular order? or do, I have to open pdfs in a new window? This is not a huge problem now that I realize file paths are not lost. I can work with this if I can't make it compatible.
I have used the Dropbox sync
I have used the Dropbox sync for a long time between my office and home PC. It works perfect for me! Within the Dropbox folder in my local driver, I can open any pdfs safely for my BSP research folder located here, either by Adobe Reader (directly within the BSP) or by other pdf viewer like PDF-Xchang-Viewer. So I guess your problem may be related to the problems of Adobe installation. Maybe you can try this way...
ps: In my PC, only are installed the Adobe Reader!

I do not know the tricks to solve this problem. Acrobat Pro will mess up the ActiveX control of Reader. In the next major release, we will use a built-in pdf viewer instead of relying on Acrobat Reader.
Acrobat Pro
It is good to know this will be fixed with the next release.
I am a new user -- I just downloaded the trial version two days ago. It won me over almost immediately...then I came across this problem. Like others, I use Acrobat Pro extensively, so removing it isn't an option. And, while opening the PDF in another window is an option, there is significant value in keeping it within a single Biblioscape window.
Again, it is good to know this will be fixed in the next version. I hope you release it soon. I like Bibliscape and plan to purchase it as soon as this issue is resolved. Great job. -Amanda
