UI and Interface Update with v. 9

Don't take this the wrong way, but the one aspect of using Biblioscape that seems lacking to me is the "fun" factor. I know, it seems shallow, but I really enjoy using my other applications (PersonalBrain, ConnectedText, Evernote). Biblioscape, on the other hand, not so much fun. In fact, I've been evaluating other bibliographic solutions like Mendeley, only because the Biblioscape UI seems to be stuck in the 90s.

Will version 9.0 sport a nice new look and feel; perhaps skinnable or customizable? Inquiring minds want to know -- Glen

p.s. I'm a desktop user, but I would love to have a Web-based "sync" feature like Mendeley. I don't need to access my databases online (like BiblioWeb), just sync between my teaching tablet and home desktop. Any chance of this happening?

Not sure about the sync

Not sure about the sync feature in version 9. But the look and feel will be updated like this:

This looks good, Paul.

One feature I really miss is a horizontal scroll bar for the Tree View pane. Could one be added (and maybe even sooner, in V-8)?

I like to keep that pane narrow, but where I have a few levels of nesting I can't see what I need to. I would like to be able to slide the content so that some of the text on the left side of the pane is off-screen.

Tag Clouds

Tag Cloud implementation could be very useful in version 9, so this is a request for it. It could generate immediate results that could be clicked on and saved as categories or as searches. It could function based on author, keywords, title, etc... Please see the following web page and then click on Tag Cloud. http://www.sonnysoftware.com/page20/page20.html

Thank you for your suggestion.

Larry, in the next major

Larry, in the next major release, we will make the cell height auto adjusted. So all the text will be displayed without the need to adjust the width.

.

Will that work OK for entries that are several layers deep in the tree hierarchy?

4-5 layers will be fine.

Thanks for the preview! The UI seems to be getting closer to EndNote, Papers, Bookends, and Mendeley, in terms of look-and-feel. Now add to that the inherent power in Biblioscape (which is why we all purchased it) and you'll have a winner.

p.s. Since I see a "Tag" tab, will we also have a "tag cloud" for locating and filtering references?

It will be a traditional treeview look that support drag and drop. A cloud look can be added later.
