Hi Paul,
I would like to create synonyms for keywords in our database which, if entered in a search, will retreive that keyword. For example the keyword is 'Low Back Pain', a user enters 'LBP' as the search term, and finds all the hits containing the keyword 'Low Back Pain'.
I've explored the Categories module, and I know categories can be created and linked with synonyms. But I'd like to create searchable synonyms within the References module so that searches done within the department, and on Biblioweb, will find references with important keywords in a more robust and inclusive way. Can I do this?

But will a fast search in my References find synonymous terms I've entered in "Other Names" of a category?

Yes, the plan is to let user
Yes, the plan is to let user define a synonym ring in the Other Names field. When a fast search is done, Biblioscape will check if the term is included in the synonym ring. If yes, search all the other terms in that ring. When users enter a fast search, a special sign can be used to instruct Biblioscape check synonyms. For example: +train. If there is a synonym ring including: train, locomotive. Both words will be searched.
