Integrating with another System

Hello,

My company is currently evaluating the possibility of integrating a automated library system. After some browsing on the web, I found this software to be quite useful in our application. But, I have a few queries.

1) We are thinking of integrating this system with an RFID system in order to automate our whole library system. Will it be possible to interface the RFID software system with your Biblioscape software to get the best of both worlds?

2) What file format does Biblioscape support for the import/export function?

1. What kind of integration do you want to achieve? You can certainly use RFID to enter the ID of an item.

2. Biblioscape can import from many different sources including EndNote Refer, Reference Manager RIS, etc. There are more than 200 import filters pre-made. Users can also create new import filters.

Hello Paul,

Thanks for your reply. We are thinking of utilizing the database from biblioscape and use it with the RFID system. As in, whatever the RFID system reads, it can be imported/exported into Biblioscape.

Has anybody done this before? As we are a research based company and we have quite an extensive library, we are thinking of killing two birds with one stone.

Can the importing/exporting be automated?

In Biblioscape, importing

In Biblioscape, importing references has to be done using an import filter on the reference import window. This process cannot be scripted. Biblioscape does have an ODBC driver which allows other system to access the references table directly.

Hello Paul,

What specific ODBC driver is used by biblioscape? I found out from the manual that the ODBC driver needs to be bought separately. Is there a provision for us to try it in the demo? Thanks.
