Export option suggestion: HTML webpages

Dear Paul,

I have an idea/feature request, that would like to describe:

Using Biblioscape on your own computer or one that allows administration or software installation is of course fine, but if I have to take my database (for viewing) to a computer without Biblioscape on it and without the ability to install software (either because of access rights or because there's running e. g. Linux or Mac OS on it), that's not of too much use. Of course Biblioscape web server (running on my office computer) still offers the possibility to access my collection, but that ends when this computer is either switched off or beyond network access.

If Biblioscape was able to export the database view that the Web server provides in the form of a html file collection (or as an .mht archive, alternatively), I would be able to browse my database on whatever machine that has a web browser on it. It also would be especially handy on devices like PDAs or the upcoming iPad, which are capable of running a web browser, but where Biblioscape does not exist for.

What do you think about this idea?

Best regards
Kristian

You can run Biblioscape from

You can run Biblioscape from your USB drive on any Windows machine:

The current Biblioscape allows you to export references in HTML format. You can first go to "References | Retrieve All". Then go to "File | Export...". Go to the "HTML" tab, and select an output style. You can create a new style if the current ones doesn't satisfy your needs.

We have been working on a new BiblioWeb. It is a web based solution that can be accessed from computers, iPad, and smart phones.
