Minor problem with the APA 5th output style (version last updated 20040413): for a chapter in an edited book, the names of the editors should be listed in the form "A. B. Someone & C. Somebody (Eds.)" and NOT "Someone, A. B. & Somebody, C. (Eds.)". In other words, initials for each editor's given name should come *before* the surname. The 20040413 APA style has it wrong.
Also, according to the list of output styles at http://www.biblioscape.com/styles.htm (which is linked from the Biblioscape home page as the place for "Output Styles"), the 20040413 APA version that I'm using is current. But then again, that list shows nothing updated since 2004. I searched this support site and found http://support.biblioscape.com/node/41 which appears to show a version of APA last updated 20060403. This is very confusing. Where should I be looking to find the most recently updated output styles?
Thanks.
APA Style
Referring back to to the APA maual, The APA 5th edition output style (Bibloscape) is correct. Citication should read: Author, A.A., Author, B.B., & Author, C.C.
The surname is followed by the first inital.
Refer to APA 5th edtion page 223
Thanks
APA website
Thanks for the reply. But just to clarify: I'm talking about how, in a full reference for a chapter in an edited book, the editors' (not authors') names should appear. I don't have a full APA manual available at the moment, but all secondary sources I've checked suggest that what I said in my post above is correct.
Even the APA website seems to confirm this, with their sample reference for a book chapter:
The site
The site http://www.biblioscape.com/styles.htm list all the styles after a new version is released. This is done automatically. The site http://support.biblioscape.com/flexinode/table/2 list all the new styles updated since the release. This is done manually and anyone can add new styles there.
The latest apa style at http://support.biblioscape.com/flexinode/table/2 has the editor displayed right. Please get that one. Thanks.
integrate the lists?
Thanks, Paul. I'll try the newer APA.
Are you planning to integrate the two lists of output styles (from the main site and this support site) into a single list? I think it would be better for users if they were all shown together in one place.
We will do that later.
We will do that later. Thanks.
