We are not getting the results we'd like with "Advanced Search" but I'm not sure how important it is to detail our issues. Sometimes it works for us and sometimes it doesn't. We seem to be confused by the boolean variables. Also, I've noticed and had trouble nesting the terms by clicking and dragging into indentations.
What are the features that let us get the most out of "Advanced Search"?
What should we know about Biblioscape's Boolean rules?
Thank you!
More on Boolean strings
I also have a question on Boolean strings, as I can't seem to get them to work in the Advanced Search but would really like to. eg searching Notes for text I would like to be able to search for "Wisdom AND Creation", "Wisdom OR Logos", "Christ AND (Wisdom OR Logos)" etc, also use of wildcards such as * and ?. Should these be able to work? I know it is possible to combine a category search with a test-string but Booleans would be great.
It is possible to do those
It is possible to do those searches. You can click the logical operator and select "And" or "Or". For a search like "Christ AND (Wisdom OR Logos)". You have to indent "Wisdom" and "Logos". Put "or" between them. Then put "and" between "Christ" and "(Wisdom OR Logos)".
Boolean searches
Great! Thanks Paul, just tried it. It took me some trial and error to work out your instructions - it's actually a very powerful range of possible searches.
Can you give me an example
Can you give me an example in detail. I can tell you how to build an advanced search using that example. Thanks, Paul
Thank you. We figured it out
Thank you. We figured it out after a while, but it would be helpful if a tutorial existed.
