Unnecessary triggering of duplicate name error

The error message for creation of a duplicate category name is being triggered unnecessarily. I had a pre-existing category name "Geo-engineering". I just added a child category named "Regulation of Geo-engineering", using the Categories pane on the right-hand side of an open reference record. I got an error message that "Geo-engineering" is a duplicate name. It seems that individual words are being checked instead of whole strings.

I think this problem may have started with version 8.05, but it may have pre-existed that version.

You must already have a

You must already have a category named "Geo-engineering". Biblioscape does check the whole string.

.

I have just inspected my whole category tree. I have only two categories that include the word "Geo-engineering", and I also checked the Deleted folder which had none. The only such pre-existing category was named with solely the one word "Geo-engineering". Then, when I created the category "Regulating Geo-engineering" (the second of the two categories containing that word) I got the error message that the category "Geo-engineering" is a duplicate.

CLEARLY, THAT WAS A SPURIOUS ERROR MESSAGE, and it has happened recently in other similar situations.

If indeed Biblioscape is comparing whole strings to detect duplicates, THEN HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?

Have you tried to replicate the error? I'm sure that you can.

I tried once and didn't

I tried once and didn't reproduce it. Could you let me know the exact error message? Thanks, Paul

.

Now I can't reproduce the error. The next time it happens I will take better notes. The error message seemed to be the usual one that occurs when there is an attempt to make a category with exact duplicate name.
