I am hoping there may be a way undo the last import citations operation. (I do realize that there is an "undo" button provided, but I am not sure what it is for, and never been able to make it undo anything in the months I have been using Biblioscape.)
I just tried an "export citations" from a journal, but clicked "export references" by mistake. As a result I got 41 references that need manual editing because I have RIS import problems from some cites. Fortunately the import was into an empty folder I had just created, but if that were not the case I would have had a mess of records I don't need and which would otherwise require correction.
Even if intentionally importing from an "export references" link, a human mistake of importing into a wrong folder that already has many records is possible, which could best be fixed by undoing the import and trying again for the correct folder.
So my questions are, is it possible to undo an import operation? And if not, would it be possible to add that feature?
There is no Undo for
There is no Undo for importing references. But the references are listed in a order they are added into the database by default. You can then select those newly imported records and delete them. You can also run an advanced search to retrieve all the records created in a certain date and then delete unwanted references.
And a related question
I also have a related question:
For what purposes is the "undo" button supposed to be functional. As mentioned above, it doesn't seem to do anything in any situation where I have tried to use it.
The Undo command under
The Undo command under "Edit" menu is for editing text only.
