This is a hoot! Google seems to think I'm a machine. I have been deep into web research for several hours today, using Biblioscape "Related" tab to web search based on documents in my library. I pursued many searches out through 20 or 30 Google results pages. Then I got this:
"Google Error
"We're sorry...
"... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.
"We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.
"We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google."
But, so far "as quickly as possible" hasn't been quick at all. But then too, it's a free service. And no virus or spyware here, just me. :)
I guess Google search engine
I guess Google search engine thinks a machine is doing all of that. If you can give exact steps to reproduce this. I can try that.
.
It apparently takes hours of non-stop work. Pretty funny, I think. My "rights" had been restored the next day, but I had no access for about 12 hours. Using my regular browser I got a similar message that gave be the opportunity to identify a twisted word and click an "I'm human!" button (this feature wasn't on the screen I got within Biblioscape), but even that have immediate effect. Whether it speeded up restoration of my access, I have no way of knowing. It seems that my IP address was black listed, as opposed to whatever string Biblioscape might attach to its' queries.
I guess they have this
I guess they have this mechanism to prevent hackers attacking their server.
