Note's current view field chooser

Dear Paul:
Hi again, your directions have always been very helpful.
I have my notes organized in folders, and tagged by categories. Folder and categories are organized according to my writting's topics. Thus, my notes are too named referring to subjects or subjects to be covered. All of my notes, on the other hand, relate to a specific bibliographic reference. It would be really useful to be able to add in the note's preview panel, a column with the name of the author of the text it comments. However, when I go to view/current tree view/field chooser, it offers me a very limited set of options, none of them this one, nor any other open text field I can use for this purpose. Can you help?
Thanks a lot,
Andrés

I experienced precisely the

I experienced precisely the same frustration, but then I realized that notes don't *have* a reference (or author) field. Biblioscape just automatically adds a link to the reference when you create a new note from a reference record.

To get the same effect, you browse the notes with the link tab open in the lower pane.

Sorry if I'm repeating Paul's answer here, I achieved total clarity while writing this :P

I am not sure I understand

I am not sure I understand this correctly. If you want to see the references that is related to this note, you can click the "Links" tab. The linked reference will be shown there with first author name, year, and title.

Two problems with that

First, if I got you right, I would have to go note by note checking the link tab (and in many notes the link tab containes multiple links, not just the original reference from which the note was directly extracted). Almost always, my notes are directly generated by a reference, and I often paste into them complete paragraphs from the reference in question. So, I was looking for a way to add such reference as a field in the notes' panel grid, by any customized field in the field chooser. But al the options it gives me are predetermined fields ('created by', 'modified by', and such).
The second reason is grosser, and probably due to my inexperience, but the thing is: the 'link' buttons don't let me link already created notes with already created references. I use it simply nothing happens. I have know idea why.
Any thoughts?
Thanks again

I suggest you add author

I suggest you add author name, year to the Title of your note. You can do this when you create the note. If you have to have another title, you can put the reference info in other fields like Label, etc.

When you add a new link, did you click the "Add Link" button?
