Link vs. parent-child?

Hi,
I'm having a little difficulty understanding the difference between a "link" between two notes when using the composition tool and a "parent-child" relationship between notes. How are these two concepts used differently in the tool?

Thanks for any tips or pointers.

A link can include more

A link can include more information than a parent-child relationship. When you create a link, you can assign a link relationship and add a description of the link. For a parent-child relationship, there is nothing else.
