"Cannot open clipboard" message appearing a lot with BiblioRemote

Paul -- I'm having  a lot of trouble with the "Cannot open clipboard" message appearing when I'm using BiblioRemote. There are two situations in which I encounter it; in both cases, it's not very reproducible:

1. When I move from one reference to another in the main reference window -- that is, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I think I can reduce its probability of happening if I leave much longer pauses between moving between references, but I'm not sure about that. When it happens, the reference displayed below the reference list is the reference to which I have moved, but the focus on the reference lists stays with the previously-selected reference.

2. When I click "save and close" after creating or editing a reference. The reference editing window closes, there is a pause, the "Cannot open clipboard" message appears, and when I dismiss it the editing window reappears. The only way to save and close when a reference gets into this stage is to save the reference, and then close without saving.

I've rebuilt the database -- it wasn't showing any errors.

Cannot open clipboard message

I have exactly the same problem as other users, e.g. hgunz

Same message openning search files

Paul,
I have gotten the same message at times. For example, the first time I try opening a previously saved search file I will get that message. On subsequent tries, I do not have the message and the search works properly.
Incidentally, these saved searches show the references in the table view but not in the tree view.

Hugh, I cannot reproduce it

Hugh, I cannot reproduce it here. Can you email me the *.bsr file? I will try to reproduce it.

.

I am having the same problem, but am unable to save the changes I have made to the reference. Whether I click Save, Save&Close, or Close, I end up in the reference list with a "cannot open clipboard" error message displayed. Either clicking "OK" or the "X" corner of the message, I end up back in the reopened (or still opened?) record. I finally clicked the "X" in the corner of the reference itself, and broke me out of the error loop. Reopening the reference, my changes were there.

I have had this happen several times yesterday and today. Until this time I have been able to break the loop more easily, as suggested by Hgunz.
In all cases, the only edits I had been making were clicking existing categories to tag the reference. This problem does not occur every time I do this with references, but it has been occurring very frequently.

This may be related to other problems I posted within the hour in a new thread. In at least one of those problems this same error message pops up, and that problem also involved working with the categories panel.

.

I see I posted the above in a wrong thread, since my problems are occurring in Biblioscape, not BiblioRemote.

However, a further symptom of these Biblioscape problems to report ....

I have been getting "cannot open clipboard" errors in a number of varied circumstances the past few days. Just now, the program crashed when I tried a quick search, and this error message was generated:

"Exception in module Biblioscape.exe at 00036B7C."
"Cannot open clipboard."

The clipboard may be locked

The clipboard may be locked when Biblioscape tries to access it. In future release, we will reduce the use of clipboard to avoid this problem.

Does Biblioscape use the

Does Biblioscape use the clipboad in an unusual way? It (the clipboard) seems to be behaving normally in other applications when these problems crop up, suggesting that there's something different about Biblioscape's use of it. It's evident from the many comments on this thread that it would be much appreciated if this problem could be solved; it's a bit a show-stopper when it happens.

There is no special use of

There is no special use of clipboard in Biblioscape. We will pay more attention to clipboard use in future releases. Thanks, Paul

Sure -- I'll send it to

Sure -- I'll send it to you. It's a difficult one, though -- there are times when it keeps happening, and other times when it doesn't happen at all.
