Biblioscape automatically parses the Authors and Keywords fields, putting each author and keyword into a separate index table so that users can browse these fields in lookup lists in Biblioscape and BiblioWeb. Is it possible to make additional fields similarly parseable and indexable? I'd use this ability to be able to 1) put multiple countries into the Country field without having Biblioscape & BiblioWeb interpret them as a single country, 2) make multiple entries in the Categories field individually clickable in BiblioWeb. (BTW, why aren't the words in the Categories field clickable at all in BiblioWeb?), and 3) have the functionality of both 1 & 2 applied to any Custom field.
Please let us know if this is possible or planned.
Thanks,
Ben
It is possible. But we don't
It is possible. But we don't think it is needed in most cases. Most users will only put one country name in the country field. The categories field can be easily accessed using the categories module (not implemented in BiblioWeb). We do plan to rewrite BiblioWeb. Have you tried adding extra meta data using links? You can link to text. Thanks, Paul.
Re: Possible? Parse and index fields other than Authors & Keywor
In each of the records in a bibliographic database having to do with different areas of the Pacific Ocean, I would like to have one field containing a list of multiple keywords that are each clickable and a separate field containing a list of multiple countries that are each clickable. Please advise me on how I may give to a 2nd field the parsing and indexing properties that the keyword field has.
Thanks,
Ben
I would create two parent
I would create two parent categories under a categories folder. One named "Pacific Ocean" with a list of categories of areas of pacific ocean under it, and another named "Country" and add all the country name under it. Then I will use categories to tag all those bibliographic records.
Re: Possible? Parse and index fields other than Authors & Keywor
Should this make each category clickable on BiblioWeb record pages?
It should. But we will not
It should. But we will not add new things to the existing BiblioWeb. We plan to rewrite BiblioWeb. Thanks.
