Because the Western keyboard does not allow for easy production of accented characters, it would be helpful if records containing "El Niño", for example, would appear in BiblioWeb search results for "El Nino", like Google is able to do. Without such a smart accented character search, users looking for records about "El Niño" who don't know how or don't take the time to insert the "ñ" will come up empty handed even if there are hundreds of records containing "El Niño". Are there any plans to make the search feature smart about accented characters?

Ben, there is no plan to add this in 7.x. I think the easy way to support this is to let user define a synonym list and use that list to assist search. I don't know how google does it. Do you replace every "n" with "ñ" when you do a search?
