I've found that using certain output styles will cause some Japanese characters to get garbled in the formatted preview (and also in "copy formatted"), with the result that those output styles cannot even be used with Japanese references because the formatted references become impossible to read. Here are three examples to show what I mean.

1. Here is a reference for a newspaper article (no author) formatted using the Public Opinion Quarterly output style. It renders the Japanese text correctly:

外国人犯罪最多４万７１２４件. 2005. 東京新聞, 2005/02/24.

2. But here is the same reference formatted using Turabian 6th (author-date). Notice how the numbers in the article title are changed into letters:

外国人犯罪最多Ｔ万ＷＱＲＴ件. 2005. 東京新聞, 2005/02/24.

3. And here is the same reference formatted using *Amer J Political Science. Notice how the numbers AND the first kanji character in the article title are changed:

"覚国人犯罪最多Ｔ万ＷＱＲＴ件." 東京新聞, 2005/02/24 2005.

I have found that this happens with BS 6.7 and 7.3 on both XP Home Japanese and Vista Ultimate Japanese. In the BS options I am using the Shift-JIS charset and appropriate fonts. "Format double byte languages" is of course checked. The above are just examples, and there are numerous other output styles that cause this same problem.
