Very elementary questions about BiblioWeb

I've been using Biblioscape 6.5 for a couple of years, mostly to good effect. Now I'm approaching a different, i.e., deeper, broader and more complicated, phase of my research-and-writing. I hope to move up to BSK 7 next week.

Before doing so, however, I'd like to get a fix on whether I'll be able to use BiblioWeb. I'm just a single user and will not be sharing my work with anyone else, at least for the foreseeable future. The only purpose for me in using B-Web would be that I could access my work both from my desk and from the cafe across town.

If I am using BiblioWeb, where exactly is my database located in cyberspace?? Is it on the BSK server?? (I wouldn't want to have my own computer continually "open," so I would want the database to reside somewhere away from it.)

So, I don't need to have my own server -- is that correct?

I'll be able to password my database, is that correct?

Finally, the new composition module looks very tantalizing. Will I be able to use it on BiblioWeb?

Perhaps another way to put my general question would be this. My impression is that BiblioWeb is something like a special form of wiki. A web-based wiki, with BSK's very own special set of features. Would that be approximately right?

Sorry to ask such fundamental questions in this sea of far more sophisticated ones. Please bear with me for a bit.

You have to run BiblioWeb.exe on a computer of yours. It doesn't have to a "server" computer. Any PC can do it. But it needs to be running when you need to access your database through BiblioWeb. Your database will be residing on that computer. You cannot use the composition module in BiblioWeb. It is only available in Biblioscape Pro edition. BiblioWeb is not a wiki. It's main purpose is to provide access to your references data through a web browser. Thanks.

Still trying

Paul, thank you for your rapid reply. I'm still trying to understand just what BiblioWeb does, i.e., what its advantages are. (And yes, I understand that B-Web is available only in the Pro edition. )

Maybe that's a good way to put it - what are the advantages of providing access to the data through a browser?

(Isn't it true that BiblioWeb does have many wiki-like features?? For example, the read / write feature seems extremely wiki-like to me. I'd love it if you could offer a BSK wiki! )

The advantage is: people can

The advantage is: people can access Biblioscape database without installing Biblioscape. In a broad sense, I guess you can call it wiki.
