Some bugs / suggestions for better usability of notes:
use smaller symbol in bulleted lists (now it's really huge, regardless of the font used); or even better: let users choose the symbol(s) they like (possibly different symbols for different levels
bulleted and numbered lists are not indented correctly: the second line continues at the left margin, thus is not indented
increasing the indent moves only the text but not the symbol; all symbols stay at the left margin; thus it is not possible to create a real outline

We will try to improve the bullets in the next major release. There are get-arounds for the problems you have. You can select all bullets text and click the indent button. Click it once, the text will move, click it the second time, the bullets will move. You can then use the tab setters on the ruler to adjust the distance between the bullet and text. Thanks.
