Paul -- do we know when Biblioscape 7 will be able to handle Word 2007 files (both .doc and .docx) directly? As many have commented here, it's a real nuisance to have continually to convert to .rtf, and then back to .doc (or .docx). The way that Biblioscape 5 and 6 integrated Word was great, and is greatly missed. Or have I missed a crucial development?
Hugh
We will work on a better
We will work on a better Word 7 integration later. But it will go through RTF as well. Biblioscape 5 and 6 integration with Word is also done through RTF. The script just saves the document first in RTF, go through Biblioscape formatting, then open it in Word and saves it again in doc format. We are working on the composition module which will be useful for writing thesis and books.
Yes, I understand that this
Yes, I understand that this is how it worked previously. But what would be nice would be the add-in for Word 2007 so that the formatting and unformatting processes can be initiated from within Word 2007, just as they could from within Word 2003.
I remember I tried the
I remember I tried the template with Word 2007 and it works as well.
Word 2007 add in issue
I also notice that every time you use the Format button in the Add in, the document saves as .docx iteratively. So if you format three times, the file appears as testfile.docx.docx.docx.

Word 2007 Add in
Hi Paul,
I placed the Bib_Word_9.dot in the Startup location per Hugh's message and the Add in works. However, I cannot seem to be able to change the reference/bibliography type (ie journal style Science versus Protein Science versus JAMA, etc). It appears to only use one format. Is there any way to fix this add in template so that when you click the format button a dialog box pops up which will let you select the journal output style, or something similar to this effect? Thank you,
George
It will use the journal
It will use the journal style selected on Biblioscape main toolbar. So if you want to change the style, just use the style combobox on the toolbar. Paul
Good heavens -- so it does.
Hi Paul
Good heavens -- so it does. The first time I tried it, it didn't, but perhaps I wasn't familiar enough with the way that Word 2007 works. Thanks!
For the record, I copied the file Bib_Word_9.dot (from the Biblioscape Tools folder) into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 12\STARTUP, and the Biblioscape functions then appeard on the "Add-Ins" tab in Word 2007.

...
It would be good to hear from those with experience if there are any outstanding issues with Word 2007 integration. I am thinking of making a switch.
Thanks.
