Inserting a MathType equation into a note is problematic.
Attempt #1: Do Insert > Object. Make sure that "Create New" is marked, and pick MathType equation from the list of object types. Click OK. The focus shifts from the note to the main Biblioscape window, but MathType does not open. No MathType, no MathType equation. :(
Attempt #2: Open MathType separately. Design equation, and use copy-and-pase to insert the equation into a note. This works, sort of. However, there are two problems:
- Sometimes when the note is saved, the appearance of the equation is altered. I have seen the characters get thinner (which isn't so bad) and thicker (in which case they overlap each other and the equation becomes unreadable).
- When the object is inserted by copy-and-paste, what is inserted is a graphic object. The equation cannot be edited (by double-clicking), nor can it be transferred to my word processor as an equation.
So what do I do? <sigh>
I use MathType and just
I use MathType and just tested this. I used the 'insert object' method, double clicking the box to access MathType. I also got overlapping symbols and resizing did not fix the problem. Hence, it appears to be a general problem either with MathType specifically or the way notes handles OLE objects.
The resizing works with
The resizing works with Excel. I would like to hear the testing result with other OLE servers. Thanks.
It's probably just MathType
I just tried Corel Presentations, and it worked OK.

When you insert an OLE
When you insert an OLE object, you can chose to create new or from an existing file. If you picked Create new, there will be an empty container inserted. Double click on that container will let you do the editing. I don't have MathType installed. I only tested with Microsoft OLE servers and it works.
OK. That works. (Most
OK. That works. (Most programs don't make you going through the step of double-clicking.)
However.....
When I transfer the MathType object to the Biblioscape note, the letters overlap and it is difficult to read.
