migrate link information

How do I migrate the link information from one reference to another or from a reference to a note or category? On "duplicate", the link information disappears. And even if it wouldn't, after duplicating, say, a reference, I can't change it into a category like I can change a book section into a journal article.
Thanks, Volker

work around?

Hi Paul, is there any work around you can suggest?
The reason for my question: I'm a musicologist, dealing with musical works that can be musical scores or recordings (audiovisual material). Up to now, I linked references (i.e. analytical writings) to the score or CD, whatever I had at hand. Now, understanding the concept of categories better, I would like to create a category for each musical work, that get linked to scores and recordings. Obviously, I would like to be able to transfer the link-information from the reference (say, the score) to the category, so that all writings related to that work can be easily found. This is a crucial point, since sometimes I have as many as 20 links to a score, and it would be most annoying to re-create this information.
With categories, I then will be able to create a topic map of works, concerts, performers, broadcasts, etc.
Thanks, Volker

1. It is possible to

1. It is possible to transfer the links by sql commands. But you still need to execute the sql for each reference. There are still lots of work.

2. If you use a category to represent a score, how do you cite it when you write? You can use import fitlers and output styles when dealing with references.

3. If you want to build topic maps. It may be better to re-create links from scratch. Because link type should be a topic (category) also in ideal topic maps. There are lots of literature on the Web about topic maps. Please read at least several of those before starting build topic maps in Biblioscape. Please give us suggestions about topic maps implementation as well.

Thanks, Paul.
re 2: The category is not ment to represent the score but the "musical work", which will be linked to references as score or recording.
So, for the moment, I probably will just create a new reference type "musical work".
