Manual Category Deletion Broken?

Manual deletion of textual entries for categories from the field (as opposed to un-ticking) does not seem to delete the existing categories. The text disappears but after I click Save in an open reference the text appears again. Un-ticking does remove it but this manual deletion was useful, especially in dodgy case, for example those involving the "__" bug. I also found it useful in many other circumstances. Is it a bug or a deliberate change?

If you manually delete

If you manually delete categories text in the box, after clicking the Save button. Categories should be removed. But it will leave the "__" text. This bug will be fixed later.

Actually, it is the other

Actually, it is the other way round for me. The categories do not get deleted in 7.24 but __ was deleted OK in 7.23. I am yet to observe it in 7.24

Some problems with version 7.24

Paul,

I encounter some problems with version 7.24:

a) Bug fix: When linking to a category record, all the icons in the categories tree are the same.
On my machine all the icons of categories are still the same (on the Category tabs of references, notes and the main window).

b) Bug fix: When link to Web, File, or Text, the second link of the same type cannot be added.
There is always an error when linking to a file in a note or a reference

c) Improvement: The setting changes of the categories tree on the right pane is now remembered between sessions.
The settings are remembered in tabs of notes and references but not in the main window category tab.

d) In references on the Category-tab the check mark isn't anymore visible for the assingned categories (but the categories are still assigned).

Thank you
Marcus

1. 7.24 only fixed the display bug on the link record window. For all the other windows, the fix will be in 7.25. Thanks.

2. I don't get any error message when linking to a file. Please let me know the exact steps to reproduce. Thanks.

3. Which window is the main windows category tab? Setting for the tree in categories module are saved.

4. Could you elaborate on this one? Thanks.

Paul, 2. I don't get any

Paul,

2. I don't get any error message when linking to a file. Please let me know the exact steps to reproduce.

When I try to link a reference or a note "to Folder", "to Web", "to File" "to Text" I get the following Error: "DBISAMQuery_crLnRecs: Canot perform this operation on a closed dataset". This error occurs always independently if I try to link in "Reference view" or "Notes view" or in an open note or open reference (via "Link-tab"). The other link facilities are working well (to reference, to note, to task, to charts, to category).

3. Which window is the main windows category tab? Setting for the tree in categories module are saved.
Sorry Paul, I was confused this facility is working well.

4. In references on the Category-tab the check mark isn't anymore visible for the assigned categories (but the categories are still assigned).
In a open Note or a open Reference which has categories, I create on the "Category-tab" a new category. The check marks of the already assigned categories are lost. When I close the record and reopen it they are anew visible.

Thank you and sorry for my bad english
Marcus

Paul,

2. I still cannot reproduce this. Are you running version 7.24?
Yes, I'm running 7.24 and this problem is persistant and now also more complicated: I just tried to rebuild my database and this rebuild gave me a "DBISAM Engin Error # 11013 Access denied to table 'folder'" and I had to shut down biblioscape.

Thank you for your advice
Marcus

Is there anyone else can

Is there anyone else can reproduce this bug? Thanks.

Paul,

The problem is persistent. I tried today my database backup from 6 february, but also in backup I must observe the above described problems. I use Windows XP Prof. German edition.

Thanks

I sent you my database in two parts.

Thank you again for your generous helpfulness
Marcus

Thank you for sending me the

Thank you for sending me the files. Yes, I can reproduce the bug using your database. In your database, the first folder item is the Deleted folder. The bug only happens in such a case. This bug will be fixed in 7.25 release. Thanks.

I can't reproduce it either.

I can't reproduce it either. I've added links to File, Web, Folder, Note and Reference - each from a reference and a note; everything's working fine (BS 7.24 Standard, Vista Business German ed.).
