Delete keywords

Would you tell me how to delete keywords that are no longer in any reference?

They show up with one or more square characters before or after the word on the keyword list.

Thank you

If those keywords are no

If those keywords are no longer in the database, those keywords should have been automatically deleted by Biblioscape. Please go to "File | Database | Update Lookup Index...". After that if you get the same problem again, please let me know the steps to reproduce it. Thanks.

Delete keywords:

Paul,

Do the keywords share a database with words found in the "Rich Text" panel?

Updating the lookup index did not help.

I then took these steps.

1. The last entry on the keyword list is "zygote" and is found in only one reference.

2. From the "All Fields" panel I opened up the box with the keywords.

The entries in that reference was:

"embryos; souls; zygotes"

3. I deleted "zygotes" leaving:

"embryos; souls"

4. I selected "Save and close" from the menu bar.

5. "zygote" was still on the list but after closing and reopening Biblioscape it was gone.

After you delete "zygote"

After you delete "zygote" and re-select Keywords field in lookup pane. The word "zygote" will be gone. But if you do not refresh the old keywords lookup display, it will be still there. You can click the right mouse button and select "Refresh".

Delete Keywords

I've continued to look at the problem and am getting confused.

The keywords with the boxes do not take me to any references BUT when I use "Fast Search" on those same words I find references with the word I searched for in the reference's "Keyword" list.

Ray, what is a box letter

Ray, what is a box letter (square character)? How do I type a square character? So I can try to reproduce this problem. Thanks.

Squares

In MS Word the drop down font list has a font called "LRS System 2" .

When I select that font and type a letter I get the square.

When I try the same thing in a Biblioscape "Rich Text" ("LRS System 2" font) panel it does not react with the square but with the proper letter.

There are other fonts that do the same in MS Word but I gave you just one example.

Thanks

Ray

Ray, I looked at your

Ray, I looked at your database. Those square characters are Unix carriage return characters. Unix and Windows use different characters to represent a new line. You probably copy and paste, or imported those Unix carriage return characters into Biblioscape. If you run a fast search for the word "modernism". One of the hits is "Storck, Thomas 2001". Go to the Keywords field of this record, you will find the word "modernism" start with a new line. If you remove that new line and replace it with a space. Save the record and then do a keyword lookup again, you will not be able to find the "#modernism" entry.

Paul, What you suggested has

Paul,

What you suggested has worked. I am able to find the keywords and correct them pretty easily.

Thanks

Ray, please zip all the

Ray, please zip all the files under your database folder and email me the zip (support@biblioscape.com). I will try to find the problem. Thanks.
