General observations of scientific work and the categories modul

Paul,

As far as I'm concerned my scientific work is based first on a long term collection of informations, "long term" will say for years or even decades, second on specific project work.

For the first purpose I need Biblioscape as a software which is from beginning of use coherent in the way I collect and tag my informations, it would not be a good idea to retag all my information after six months because for example a new "topic type" is added or an yet existing one is deleted. Needless to say, that it is necessary that the software should be stable and bugfree and that I must have absolut (!) confidence in putting in my (hardly aquired) data and in refinding it perhaps after years. This is only given with a coherent princip of data collection. I know that this demand is not easy to serve because information management is constantly changing.

For the second purpose it would be easier to add new features because I can adapt the way I establish my outlines and use Biblioscape to write a paper.

That is why I need informations about the Category modul as:
1) When creating a new category on the right category pane, this category is not to be found in the Category modul, it is also not assigend with one of the topic map semantic classification, e.g. "Topic type", "Association type" etc. It should be.

2) In the Category modul I can assign subjects (or topics or in biblioscape "categories") to the specific semantic of topic maps, e.g. "Topic type", "Association type", "Association role type", "Occurence type", "Scope", but I can't create just a Topic. Am I'm doing something wrong?

3) Creating in Category modul a category as "Topic type" and deleting this category, the subject isn't deleted from the pull down menu "Type". It should be.

Sorry for this long discussion and thank you very much
Marcus

The categories module in

The categories module in Biblioscape has two main uses. The first one is for tagging records to organize your references and notes collection. The second one is to represent knowlege through the use topic maps. The categories tab on the right of other modules are for tagging records. This is available for all editions of Biblioscape. The categories module itself is needed to use the topic maps features.

1) The category is added. But the sorting order in those two controls are different. So the newly added category is shown at different position.

2) If you don't want to assing any type to a topic, you can just leave the Type box blank. If you create a topic that is a "Topic Type". Then you can assign this topic as a topic type to another topic.

3) This problem is caused by a bug. It will be fixed in 7.23 release.

Thanks,
Paul

Category problem

Paul,

I think I get nearer the above mentioned problem:

When creating a new category on the right category pane, this category is not to be found in the Category modul, it is also not assigend with one of the topic map semantic classification, e.g. "Topic type", "Association type" etc. It should be.

The categories created on the the right category pane are now to be found in the Categroy modul, but all categories created in the Cateories modul and associated with a Topic map "Type" (e.g. "Association Type") are not to be found in the right category pane of references and notes.

Thanks
Marcus

The category is there, just

The category is there, just at different position without refreshing. This problem will be fixed in 7.23 release. Thanks.
